Migrants’ Crisis Helpline

In collaboration with migrant peer supporters

Our trained casework volunteers work collaboratively with migrant peer supporters to provide psychological first aid and casework management for migrant workers in distress. Leveraging on lived experience, our peer supporters offer an empathetic and empowering environment for migrants seeking assistance. Working in intercultural collaborative teams helps us build rapport effectively, understand the problems migrants face and journey with them in their struggles.

Peer Supporters

Differences in nationality, language, ethnicity and culture affect the way we each see the world and experience formal institutional systems.

Our migrant volunteers bridge language and cultural differences to provide a safe environment, allay anxieties and create a sense of connectedness for migrants seeking assistance.

Psychological First Aid

Both casework volunteers and migrant peer supporters are trained in psychological first aid by certified providers to provide psychosocial support in times of crisis.

Psychological First Aid is an evidence-based practice proven to help persons cope better after a crisis. Our volunteers are trained to assess safety concerns and urgent basic needs, and provide distressed persons with relevant information, or connect them to community resources.

Through education on statutory rights and relevant policies, we empower workers to make informed decisions, journey with them to co-create solutions and problem-solving together.

Statutory Rights and Policies

We educate our casework and peer support volunteers with relevant statutory frameworks and policies, to equip them to offer practical guidance and assistance to migrants seeking assistance.

We empower distressed migrants with information to navigate the complexities of their situation.

Learning together

Training local volunteers collaboratively with migrant peer support volunteers provides opportunities for employing cultural humility. Our volunteers learn from each other's experiences and cultural contexts, which enhances their ability to deliver effective support.

Through this collaborative approach, we foster inclusivity where local and migrant volunteers work together towards common goals.
