Building a community of support and protection
Building resilience through Community Building
Through building relationships around shared experiences, interests and concerns, we aspire to create supportive communities, meet needs and solve problems together.
-
We appreciate the stories and strengths in the community, identify connectors and networks in the community, and encourage relationship building between locals. migrants, businesses and organisations.
-
Through identifying skills, character attributes and affirming talents, we provide opportunities for community members to develop their strengths and contribute towards serving others in need.
-
We believe that migrant workers should have a part to play in the helping process, and be involved in co-solutioning on issues and challenges that affect them.
Injured workers Support Group
Injured migrant workers usually experience long periods of loneliness, uncertainty and depression. We provide a safe space for members to share their stories, lived realities and struggles.
Through facilitated discussions, we help injured workers find social support through commonalities with others and engender relationships of mutual aid and learning.
Peer-learning Sessions
We believe in promoting mutual learning among migrant workers. Migrants who have went through challenges and have been supported by our caseworkers are invited to share their stories, lessons and reflections with the group.
Self-Help Groups
We recognize members are experts of their own lives. Volunteer facilitators engage migrants in a dialogical process to understand migrants’ struggles. Each member is invited to participate, find their voice and articulate their thoughts.
The group is encouraged to reflect upon problems, support one another to work through challenges together and explore new solutions.
Supporting Interest Groups, Promoting Inclusion
We partner with migrant interest groups to support their talents and aspirations while exploring opportunities for them to contribute to the community to build goodwill and understanding.
