The Solidarity Walk

Known as the home of local Indian culture and heritage, Little India is one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Singapore. But how much do we really know about this colourful historical precinct and its lesser known occupants? The ethnic enclave draws migrant workers all over Singapore looking for a familiar place away from home, thereby shaping the character of the space. Each corner harbours its share of stories and reflections.

Co-created and co-led with migrant workers, the Solidarity Walk explores the importance of the area as a flourishing social node that serves as a place for social exchange, recreation and migration needs. It seeks to demystify the place as a place that is troubled, unsafe, and undesirable while offering participants the opportunity to interact with migrant workers to gain a deeper understanding of their socioeconomic struggles.

Hear first-hand from the migrants their stories of struggles and hope, and get to know them better over a meal.
